Junior Cycle encompasses the first three years of post-primary education. ECC aims to ensure a positive transition from primary school while students develop knowledge, skills, independence and confidence.
Particular emphasis is placed on settling into secondary school, establishing positive routines, making friends, experiencing new subjects, developing organisation and study skills, and knowing where to seek help.
Where the arrangement continues, First-Year students should be told clearly that they can experience a range of optional subjects before final choices are made.
